Formula UBC attended the Vancouver International Autoshow at BC Place stadium from March 29th to April 6th where car enthusiast were able to look at our 2007 and have a view of this years car. This was the first time Formula UBC brought two cars to this event and the general public took a keen interest in comparing last years model to this years. This is truly an exciting time where the car is starting to take shape at phenomenal rate! Everyone on the team is working extremely hard to finish the manufacturing stage and to start assembly. A sponsorship night was set up for sponsors of Formula UBC and other UBC teams to have an opportunity to view the car and talk with the team.
Formula UBC attended this weekend community event where hundreds of car enthusiasts mingled and oogled at the hundreds of restored cars.
The 2007 car was showcased at the UBC MECH2 BBQ on Monday August 27, 2007. Newly enlisted Mechanical Engineering students viewed the car up close and asked insightful questions to senior team members. Formula UBC members had a sign up sheet for new member where we got an overwhelming amount of applicants! Thank you for all who have applied to Formula UBC. The 2007 Formula SAE West competition took place from June 13 to 16 at the California Speedway in Fontana California. After an uneventful drive to California in comparison to last year, the Formula UBC arrived at the California Speedway rested and ready to compete.

We will be having our 2006 entry on display at the Pacific International Auto Show taking place at BC Place from March 31 to April 8. The show runs from March 31st until April 9th. We encourage you to come by and ask questions!
E-Fest is a one-day event put on by engineering and geoscientist professionals. It takes place during NationalEngineering and Geoscience Week, and it's a great opportunity for Professionals, firms and people in our community to learn about other engineering firms and projects. E-Fest is held in the Vancouver Public Library promenade. Last year E-fest attracted over 7000 visiotrs. Fomrula UBC displayed the 2006 car in the 11 annual E-fest event. Team members were ? by questions and enthusiasim of the visitors for the Formula UBC project.
Discovery Channel Canada will be featuring Formula UBC on their science and technology based show Daily Planet. This spot will mainly showcase the CAM procedure of our 2007 body as well as the testing of the 2006 car. Day 1 of filming took place at our CNC sponsor�s site: Shur-Fit Products Ltd. Our testing track at Boundary Bay served as the filming location for Day 2. The airing date should be towards the end of March. Stay tuned for more details!
After a long few months filled with snow, the Formula UBC team took the 2006 car for some testing and driver training. New drivers got valuable experience autocrossing the car at the Boundary Bay testing facility. The test went as planned and team members got the opportunity to observe and analyze the performance of the car and to discuss the areas for improvement on the 2007 car.
Formula UBC spent significant time over the Christmas break rebuilding and dyno-tuning the engine from the 2006 racecar. The engine has been reinstalled and the team has plans to begin some testing of the 2006 racecar and driver training in February.

Interested students have completed the new member procedure and our now beginning to get directly involved with the senior members of Formula UBC. 35 students completed the 1st project and attended the interviews held at the beginning of this month. Both the team and the new members are excited for the year ahead!
Formula UBC is pleased to announce that the Information session held last month was very successful, and as a result the team has attained over 80 New Member. Interviews will occur later this month to ensure new members are in groups of their interest and that work will continue as efficiently as possible in the future.
Formula UBC will have their 2006 racecar on display at the UBC Sports Car Club Booth at UBC Club Days on Friday September 22.
All interested students are encouraged to attend our 2006 New Member Information Session. This event will be held on September 21st at 5:00pm in CEME 1202.
Formula UBC participated in the Langley cruise-in event with over 100,000 spectators to show case the project. The Langley Cruise-in Event has become one of the largest mixed car shows in Canada and one of the Top 10 in North America during the past few years. The event is quickly gaining an International reputation, drawing cars and spectators from across Canada and the United States.
Formula UBC participated in the Imagine UBC Event to expose the project to engineering professionals and over 35,000 students from a broad spectrum of interests. This event is one of the largest UBC events which is designed to enhance the knowledge of students, professionals and staffs about UBC projects and organizations
