The team is excited and off to a good start in the new year. Much progress was achieved over the winter break. The chassis is assembled in the jig and has undergone one round of welding. The mock engine / mounts await the next round. The team is eager to obtain a new weight of the chassis, as a new design was implemented last term. Many strategies were used to increase the driver / leg compartment volumes, while keeping weight down. All tubes on the 2012 car are chrome moly 4130, which is a significant change from the 2011 car which used a mixture of chrome moly and mild steel. Cartesian Profiling did an excellent job laser cutting all 83 pieces of Chrome Moly tubing and bending both roll hoops. Pictures to come soon.
