2012 Chassis Construction
Thanks to Ron Graham at WestCoast Cylinders for welding the current chassis.
The first round of welding was performed with the chassis put together in the jig, and tacked together. Ron tig welded all the seams he could (starting from front) while the chassis stayed in the jig. After the mock engine is placed in the jig, and mounts are tacked in, the chassis will undergo a second round of welding. After all seams are welded as much as possible while the chassis is in the jig, the chassis will be removed from the jig, and all seams completed. It is much easier to maneuver the chassis to the multiple positions necessary for welding when it is out of the jig. A 2-ton overhead crane and fork lift allow this operation to go smoothly at WestCoast’s facility.
