Control Freak

Sometimes we confuse braking stuff with breaking stuff, but that's how we build and test controls that hold up under all the conditions the drivers can throw at them.

About the Subteam

The controls and ergonomics subteam is responsible for ensuring the driver can push the car to the limits. This subteam designs and manufactures the interfaces the driver uses to interact with the car, including steering, braking, clutching, shifting, and seating. We use knowledge of mechanical engineering to build the strongest and lightest components based on driver feedback and teamwork with multiple subteams such as manufacturing and electrical.

What you will gain
  • Experience with SolidWorks, FEA

  • Practice with fabrication, machining and composite manufacturing techniques

  • Iterative design skills across multiple engineering fields using real world performance feedback
